Let your agent ask you a question in Discord.
Connect an MCP host to a Discord bot so an agent can ask for clarification, wait for a reply, and continue with your answer. Threaded conversations keep each task together.
What you can do with it
Who it's for: Developers who want to answer agent questions away from their editor.
A configured Discord channel where an agent can ask a question and receive your reply.
Your first useful result
Install in your development environment
npm install -g @anthony-maio/halobot- 01
Configure the bot
Follow the wizard to create the Discord application, invite the bot, and configure the host.
halobot setup - 02
Inspect the configuration
Run the diagnostic before connecting an agent. Resolve missing permissions or IDs reported by the check.
halobot doctor - 03
Try a question and reply
In your configured host, ask the agent to use send_and_wait for a harmless test question. Reply in the Discord thread and confirm the agent receives your answer.
Know the limits
- Messages leave the local machine and pass through Discord.
- Allowed-user checks apply to thread-based tools; low-level tools can access channels visible to the bot. Give the bot only the channel permissions it needs.
- Conversation persistence across server restarts is listed as roadmap work.
